Ryan’s transformational yoga journey began in 2005, and he’s been teaching yoga in one capacity or another since 2011. Yoga has been a catalyst for self-study, connecting with community, meaningful travel, and staying healthy emotionally, spiritually, and physically. He is deeply grateful to have served a grassroots non-profit yoga community from 2012 to 2020 as a yoga teacher and board member. He sees teaching as a way to serve his community and have some fun along the way.
Ryan teaches vinyasa and yin yoga with a focus on conscious breathing and embodiment. While rooted in traditional vinyasa, he also weaves in Qigong-inspired movement and breath, functional movement, and deeper yin-style holds. A central theme in his classes is quieting the external and focusing on the internal — cultivating ease and connecting with our true selves or, at the very least, offering a much-needed break from the demands of our busy external lives. Yoga should be for everyone and every-“body”, and he teaches to all levels. When not in the yoga studio, you’ll find him busy in his career as an environmental scientist, on a bike, or playing in nature.
