When I was on a teacher training back in 2013, I put together my ultimate yoga class. It was a practice for the leaders of the G8. Twenty five years of practising has only strengthened my belief in mindful movement before important decisions, difficult meetings, and anything else that asks a lot of a human brain. Political leadership is arguably the most important use of all.
So I have invited every Vancouver council candidate to come practise with us before the election, then stay to tell you their platform and take your questions. A few have already said yes. Dates to follow, and you will hear about them first.
The class is a class, private like all of ours. The conversation afterwards is yours.
Whatever happens on the mat, please vote. Advance voting in Vancouver is October 3, 7, 10 and 13, 8am to 8pm, at any advance voting place. Election day is Saturday, October 17th. All of BC votes a week later, on Saturday, October 24th. The people who show up decide what this city and this province look like for the next four years, and Chinatown has a lot riding on both.
