The ACTIVE Yin series consists of sequences featuring functional movement exercises to prep you for longer holds, as well as various held postures and sequences to promote healing. ACTIVE Yin is more static and still than FLOW YOGA, but offers greater intensity of sensation than regular YIN. It is a strong practice intended to produce tangible results.
We offer three specialized ACTIVE Yin classes, each targeting the hips, shoulders, or hamstrings. All three follow the same methodology of functional movement and a focus on the breath, but focus on different muscle groups and movement patterns.
Classes include hip openers, wall work, shoulder openers, twists, held poses enhanced by weighted props, breath work, and Risto Duggan‘s signature ‘groovy’ musical playlist. You’ll emerge with deep feelings of calm, balance, and well-being.
Sequences
Hips
This hip-focused sequence uses functional movement exercises and sandbags to prepare you for deeper hip openers. Perfect if you sit for long periods, experience tight hips, or want to increase your range of motion in the lower body.
Shoulders
Target shoulder tightness and upper back tension with this shoulder-focused sequence. Ideal for anyone who works at a desk, carries stress in their shoulders, or wants to improve upper body flexibility.
Hamstrings
Lengthen tight hamstrings and improve leg flexibility with this targeted sequence. Great for runners, cyclists, those looking to get their splits, or anyone looking to increase flexibility in the backs of their legs.
Notes
If you are currently experiencing a hip, shoulder, and/or hamstring injury or have had one in the past, please exercise extra mindfulness when approaching this practice for their respective classes.
